Currently serving over 3,200 clients annually, including tribes from multiple states, the American Indian Community Center is now housed in a rental non-ADA compliant facility poses accessibility barriers. To address this, we aim to construct a new facility, Our Forever Home, accommodating tribal and non-tribal community gatherings, traditional tribal ceremonies such as powwows, tribal funerals, and important cultural classes that will help protect and preserve our tribal lifeways. Additionally, we plan to build a community garden, sweat house/lodge, and gymnasium to promote physical well-being.
The future American Indian Community Center’s Forever Home will include an industrial kitchen for nutritious meals and cooking education. We require a walk-in refrigerator, freezer, and loading area to store and distribute food bank donations. With a significant senior population, we’ll use the larger commercial kitchen to expand senior meals and activities.
